The Wichita Jewish Community School is the religious school of Congregation Emanu-El and the Hebrew Congregation, and serves the Jewish children of Wichita. The school is also supported by the Mid-Kansas Jewish Federation. Classes begin at the pre-kindergarten level and continue through 9th grade. 10th grade students attend confirmation class, administered by the rabbis, and is separate from the School. School is held on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday Mornings. Our school's purpose is to help each student LEARN and DO as a Jew. LEARNING includes the study of prayer, theology, Bible, Hebrew, holidays, Jewish Thought, history, Jewish values, and contemporary issues facing the Jewish community. DOING includes participation in worship, holiday celebrations, life cycle events, community experiences and a variety of other programs. Studies have revealed that the more Jewish education one receives, the better able the individual is to make critical Jewish life decisions as the years go on, and the better chance there is that the person will remain an active member of the Jewish Community.
