The MKJF sponsors educational, cultural, and social programming to deepen and broaden the Jewish opportunities available in south central Kansas. We sponsor concerts (such as The Western Wind, Rick Recht, and Vocolot), speakers (Joan Wolfberg, Dr. Steven Windmueller), and scholars-in-residence (Arther Kurzweil, Rabbi Danny Siegel, Yoram Honig), and special events throughout the year.
In 2010 and 2011, the MKJF offered a Chanukah concert with renowned a cappella group Vocolot, Foundations of Jewish Family Living from The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School, and the traveling exhibit The Wartime Exhibit: Margret and H.A. Rey's Journey from France!

Café Chevre |

Café Chevre (Friendship Café) is our monthly lunch and education program, open to all who enjoy good company, lunch and an interesting program.
We have had many exciting programs. Over the last year, we featured our "Cool Jews with Cool Views" series which featured Brian Docking with a presentation on investing, Sandy Kramer spoke about her background in Jewish education and the Community Shabbatons, Paul Wolff discussed his role at Senior Services and his trip to the GA, and newcomer Jan Luth taught us about Exploration Place. We also celebrated Tu B'Shevant with a naturalist from the Great Plains Nature Center, celebrated Chanukah, and enjoyed a film to commemorate "Oscar Month". With Café Chevre Coordinator Lindsey Luth-Powell, more exciting programs are in our future!
Remember! Café Chevre is "not for seniors only" ... everyone is always welcome! We're always looking for fun and educational programs for Café Chevre...all suggestions are appreciated. |

Yachad |
Yachad, a group of Jewish singles, couples, and the "young-at-heart," meets monthly (or so) in a casual social setting so members can form their own social networks and feel more comfortable attending community events. Now in its ninth year, this dinner/social group continues going strong. Yachad is an "outreach" group with members of all ages and is open to anyone who would like to attend! Newcomers are especially welcome.
Food, fun and friends keep Yachad going strong! |
